This EMT waist isn't the only thing that is going to shrink!

Happy New Year everyone! I'm starting my resolutions early! Why wait for the new year to come around. 2016 is going to be about a lot of things Fort Worth, Texas! One of those things is making sure that a lot of things around me shrink.

  • Biceps
  • Chest
  • Waist
  • Size
  • Bills
  • Stress
  • Sadness

All of these things are going to have to shrink in 2016. Of course I want to see a big weight loss before my fall classes start at Tarrant County Community College. I want to be able to be comfortable in the desks. I want to be able to save lives without being self conscience about myself.

I want to get rid of my bills. I do have to say that I'm blessed more than most people. I have a best friend that I share rent with. Though I think we are going to move into a bigger place this year. We have been sharing the rent on a studio. We both want to move into better neighborhoods. We both can afford a small increase on rent.

I just have several medical bills and student loans that need to be paid up. I'd love to see my credit score in the high 700's instead of it being in the low 400's. So it's time to get my credit report and start paying on as much as I can. I have to save for school and a rainy day too.

Reduction in sadness. I've had a lot of sadness in 2015. A lot of the sadness had to due with relationships. There are sayings all over the web to cut ties on people that do not bring happiness into your life. Sometimes I find that hard because I'm such a people pleaser. I want people to be happy. I have been ignoring myself for too long now though.

I figure if I am good then the people around me will good. Well at least that is the plan for me in Fort Worth at least.

Old fashion chocolate eclair pie

It's another day for a food review! Time to give our honest opinion about new products that are out on the market. We are slowly creating our food company database so that this Diabetic Medic can give our fellow foodies the culinary facts the minute the product goes on the market.

What are we reviewing today? We were blessed to try a free Old Fashioned Chocolate Eclair Pie from Walmart stores. I really like the packaging. It's a brown paper box with an 1800's city scene on the front. The packaging almost creates excitement that the Walmart product recipe has been around since the 1800's and has been perfected.

Unfortunately, the packaging is there to fool you. This is not an Old Fashioned Chocolate Eclair Pie at all. This dessert is a vanilla pudding pie drizzled with chocolate. I do have to say that the crust of the pie is great. It's flaky as pie crust should be. The only problem is that Eclairs have more of a philo dough flakiness. This pie crust was your classic butter and flour pie crust.

Walmart! Eclair custards are lighter then what you are serving to your clients. The Old Fashioned Chocolate Eclair Pie tasted like vanilla pudding instead of Eclair cream. The filling was also very heavy tasting with almost a rubbery texture. I have a feeling that our free sample was perhaps something that Walmart couldn't sell anymore.

Would I purchase the Old Fashioned Chocolate Eclair Pie to give it a new review. Absolutely not!

Is Starbucks Coffee orange syrup too acidic

Are you looking for a new flavor of Starbucks Coffee? Are you like me? A person who likes to try out coffee house secret recipes? Recently my husband and I went to our local Starbucks Coffee. I wanted to try something new. So I decided to try a shot of Starbucks Coffee Acadia Orange syrup in my morning coffee.

Did I like the blend of a deep roast and orange flavoring? Unfortunately, I have to say no. The orange flavored syrup ended up giving the coffee a strange and acidic aftertaste. I was only able to drink about two sips before having to throw the coffee in the trash. The ultra bitter aftertaste was just too much to handle.

Thankfully, Starbucks Coffee fans don't have to shy away completely from the Acacia Orange syrup. The product works well with Tazo teas and the new Italian sodas. The lighter brews work really well with this syrup.

I also like using the syrup in Starbucks Coffee Vanilla Bean. The mixture gives off the taste of the
50/50 ice cream bards that our family use to eat
when we were kids.

All in all, the Acacia Orange syrup at Starbucks Coffee is a good product. It is my hope that they keep the syrup on the menu. Just remember to choose another syrup when you plan to drink a dark roast blend.

Chocolate Recipe: The gift of Chocolate

I love making this recipe when it's Fireman appreciation or Police appreciation day. I wish I could make a batch big enough for all of our Fort Worth finest. Are you looking for a recipe that would be great to use as a gift. Our family loves cooking up a batch of different styles of Dark Chocolate Fudge. We wrap them up in a pretty container and make sure that we include a recipe card so that the gift receiver can make them throughout the year.

So what will you need to make Dark Chocolate Fudge?
  • 3/4 cup of Nestle Toll House DelightFulls Mint Filled Morsels, cut in half
  • 10 ounce package of Nestle Toll House dark chocolate morsels
  • 14 ounce can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Line an 8 inch square baking pan with foil. Coarsely chop 1/4 cup mint filled morsels and set aside.

Combine dark chocolate morsels and sweetened condensed milk in a heavy saucepan. Warm over lowest possible heat and stir until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Gently stir in the remaining 1/2 cup of mint filled morsels. Don't melt them, just make sure that they are covered with the other chocolate. Spread mixture evenly in prepared pan.

Sprinkle with coarsely chopped mint filled morsels. Press gently into fudge. Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm. Lift from pan and remove foil. Cut into pieces.

Each recipe makes about 20 Servings
